I had thought about getting up early, say around 5:30am to go get some nice snow shots in the first light. But that did not happen for various reasons. First I went to the CU women's BB game with my friends and then we went out for a beer and nachos afterwards. So I didn't get home until around 11pm. I watched the weather forecast and it looked like it was gonna be in the single digits at 5 am......Ouch! So I said no thanks and slept until the kitties and Hazel woke me up.
I waited until it got to 10' before Hazel and I headed out for a fun hike. I finally remembered how to dress for cold weather around here and I got some "musher's secret" for Hazel's feet. It's a waxy substance to reduce her chances of getting those tiny balls of snow in between her toes which is very annoying. At least that's what Hazel said :)
I brought my camera with the landscape lens cause you just never know what you will see....
Yes, it was as cold as it looks.........
Hazel was a happy gal and the musher's secret worked great!
Hazel and I headed over the dam near Coot lake, walked all the way to the other side and then headed back.
We were almost back to Coot lake and I spotted a red tailed hawk sitting on a pole. I didn't have my telephoto lens but I had to give it a try......
I never get tired of seeing these beautiful creatures!
We got back to Coot lake and walked along for a bit. No swimming today!
A shadow passed over me and I looked up to see the red tail circling over me! Wow!
He gave me many oppotunites to get a decent shot...so beautiful!
As you can see Hazel had a blast!
I love living in Colorado! Sure we got some sub zero temps and snow. By Wednesday it will back in the 50's! Oh yeah!
Thanks for reading!
