A Trip to Barr Lake

I hadn't been to Barr Lake for a bit. So I decided to go check it out today. This time of year you never know what you will see. It can be super busy or very quiet. I was hoping for super busy!

I had go check and see if the barn owls were around but no luck. The water level was fairly low, so I was able to walk past the nesting box toward the water. There was another gal photographer there which is always fun to see as it seems there are more guy photographers out there. We said hi and I found out she volunteers at Barr lake and the Wild Animal Sanctuary as a photographer. Very cool! I did not ask but I am guessing she is a pro photographer based on the equipment she had. As we were talking a couple of eagles did a fly by for us!

We parted ways and I continued on.....

I looked up to see a flock of geese flying by, both canadian and snow geese!

There was also a nice flock of pelicans hanging out....

and then a flock of common mergansers flew by.....

Wasn't sure who this was but a little research determined it was a dark eyed junco...

I couldn't resist this very cute squirrel...

And this kestral was enjoying the beautiful day...

I know these next two birds are sparrows but not sure which ones.....

A couple of the chuckars were enjoying some free food put out by the volunteers....

And this blue jay was getting ready to grab a peanut to enjoy.....

I saw quite a few red tails on my drive to and from Barr lake. On the way home I stopped for this one....

Any day is a great day when I get to go photographing. More and more eagles should be wintering at Barr lake. So hopefully next time I will get some great pics!
As usual, I hustled home to get Hazel out. She didn't get any playtime yesterday because I was in a massage class all day. So she was more than ready for some playtime. We met a couple of gals I know with their dog at the rez, so everyone had fun.
Was a bald eagle day for sure as two baldies put on quite the show for us at the rez......

Thanks for reading!
