I love living in Colorado! Sure we have had some sub zero temps this winter. But today was it was gonna be around 60'! Love it! Of course when I left the house it was about 25' but that did not last long.
The plan was to head down to my favorite spot to see what was going on. As I was driving down I decided to go check on the eagle nest first. I am so glad I did as they were at their nest when I arrived. As far as I know they did not produce any baby eagles last summer. So hopefully they will have better luck this year!
After enjoying the eagles, I headed over to my favorite place. As expected the large lake was still frozen over. So I headed to the small pond in the back. I was hoping the wood duck would be around but no luck. Mostly there were geese and mallards.
I continued around hoping to see the cooper's hawks but again no luck. Did see a few juncos and finally one posed for me....
All was quiet so I headed over to a new place called Denver office park. Yes, it is many office buildings surrounded by a few ponds and lots of trees. There have been recent reports of a pine warbler and red crossbills hanging around there. So it was worth a shot to see if I could locate them.
As I pulled into one of the parking lots, I spotted some open water with ducks.
This pic gives you an idea of the size of a hooded merganser compared to a goose.
There were a few golden eyes too. They have the funniest looking head.......
Well I had no luck finding the pine warbler, so I headed to Prospect park. It was very quiet except for the main pond as you drove in.
Here's a coot.....
This golden eye was showing off for the ladies....
The ladies do not seem impressed.....

There he is taking off....
And you know how I love the reflection shots......
Well, it was a fun morning. I headed home to get Hazel out for a hike. Yes, it was 60' for our hike! I loved it!
Thanks for reading!
