As a kid, Christmas morning was so exciting! Opening presents and eating great food was something I always looked forward to. These days I still get excited...to go out photographing! What better way to celebrate the holiday then to get out into Nature and enjoy all the beauty!
I had to head down to my favorite place to see what was going on. As I drove down I could see the clouds rolling in and it got gray and gloomy. Oh well, not that great for photography but I had to give it a go.
It was a balmy 20' as I started around the main lake. This squirrel looks a bit chilly!
I headed to the back pond as the water hardly ever freezes completely. Mostly geese were hanging out......
I continued around and spotted a red tailed hawk way up in the tree.
It didn't take long to walk around the lake and I was back at the gazebo. I was thinking about heading home as it was so quiet but then I got a bit of action......
The gulls were flying around......
Here's the gray and gloomy sky.....
Then I spotted some goldeneye ducks.....
The goldeneyes dive for their food, so after a few tries, I was able to get this series of him diving.....

The shovelers were around too.....
A handsome mallard.....
A happy goldeneye........
There was one female goldeneye attracting the guy's attention....
After watching the goldeneyes and their friends, I was cold! So I thought I was headed home. But as I got near Prospect park, I decided to stop in and just check out the main pond.
Sweet! There was a pair of redheaded ducks. This is the male...
Then I looked up and saw this bald eagle across the pond! The walking path goes right over there, so I hustled over to check it out....
He was tucked in the tree with lots of tiny branches but I was able to get some head shots....
Well, that was a fun morning! Even though the light sucked it was fun to get out to see Nature!
I finally got home and got the Hazel dog. We headed over to the Boulder Valley ranch loop and enjoyed a great hike!
Merry Christmas!
