A Foggy Start

We don't get much fog around here but we did today. I was up and out of the house by 6:30am. It was still dark as I headed east towards Rocky Mt Arsenal but I soon realized it was very foggy! Crap! Oh well, maybe it would burn off......

There is herd of wild bison here, so I drove through to see if they were around. Bingo! Three of them were grazing just off the road......

I continued on and drove around the refuge hoping the fog would burn off. After a 1/2 hourI gave up and decided to drive over to my favorite place. Maybe the fog would have burned off by the time I got there.

I drove back through the bison enclosure on my way out and spotted a handsome mule deer buck!

I got to my favorite place just as the fog was lifting.......

There isn't much open water so as I walked over to the gazebo, this handsome golden eye was right below me....

and here's a northern shoveler snoozing......

This guy is awake....

Here's the frozen main lake. Brrrrrrrr

And a handsome mallard....

By the time I ready to leave, the sun was shining....

Just as I got back to the car, this crow flew in and posed for me......

I decided to stop by Prospect park on the way home. Glad I did as there were a few female goldeneyes swimming around in the creek.

I love how the light brought out all the colors on this mallard....

On the way out of the park, I spotted this hooded merganser on the main lake...

And a ring billed gull too......

So I headed home and got the Hazel dog. We went for a hike at Boulder Valley Ranch and then drove over to check on my coot lake owl friends. On the way over this red tail hawk was sitting in a tree waiting for me to take his pic. The owls were not around, so we headed home to watch the Broncos!

Well, it's always a good day when I can get out photographing......thanks for reading!
