We noticed some movement in the nest and realized the babies were starting to peek out to the world. We think we saw at least 2 babies....very exciting!
Cher soon finished her grooming session and took off to get dinner for the kids. She was back shortly with a yummy meadow vole. She flew into the nest, dropped it off and immediately flew off. That was cool! I was able to grab a quick pic of the baby owl attempting to eat his dinner. I imagine Cher said " Here kids, chew on this until I get back"! Guess it was the owl version of a teething ring :)
The next time Cher came back with another vole, she settled into the nest and fed the kids. This routine continued for awhile. Within a short amount of time, Cher had caught 3 meadow voles and fed the kids.
Sonny finally showed up with a meadow vole and sat in a nearby tree. I guess he took too long to deliver it because Cher flew over to him, grabbed the vole and took it into the nest. I could just hear her scolding him..." what took you so long! The kids are hungry"!
What a magical evening it was! Stay tuned for more owl adventures.......
