Empty nest!

Oh Yeah! Elmo is out of the nest! We stayed until 9 pm last evening hoping to see him take the leap. The nest is about 30 feet high, so it would be cool to see him launch himself into the world. He was super active, so we knew he was gonna go at some point. But I was tired from a long day, so gave up and headed home.
Luckily, it's pretty easy for me to get up early. So I was back out at the nest by 6 am. I took a quick glance into the nest and knew Elmo was out!

So I walked over the green pipe to get to the field side to find Elmo.
All my experience with the owls helped me find him in about 3 minutes.

He was pretty camouflaged, but I was able to find a better spot to get pics.

I took a few pics and then gave him his space to get situated. I popped home to eat breakfast and then quickly headed back to the owls. I was hoping to see the kids get fed by mom.

When I got back, I checked to see where Elmo was. It took a few minutes as I was looking on the ground in the bushes. I happened to look up and there he was...it a small tree!

I felt so lucky to get these shots. As the sun got higher in the sky, the light got harsher and not good for pics.

I stuck around for quite awhile hoping to see the kids get fed. But finally I needed to head home.

I'll be headed back this evening, so stay tuned!

Thanks for reading!
Remember, if you click on the pics they'll get bigger for easy viewing!
