Sunday at Barr Lake

After such a fun day on Friday photographing turkeys, I wanted to go out on Saturday to photograph some more! But the deck sorely needed to be stained before winter shows up.
So I promised myself if I did chores around the house on Saturday, I could go play on Sunday.
I decided to go to Barr lake. This a great place for bald eagles to winter and some do live here all year round. I was out the door by 6:30am and ready for a fun day!

       Check out the clouds!

The water levels are super low, so I decided to hike out towards the shore to see what was out there. I did see two immature balds but they flew off before I got close enough for a pic. There plenty of shovelers, killdeer, etc. Here's a bunch flying with the rocky mts in the background

There were quite a few of these guys....not sure who they are but darn cute!

           another flight shot......

I hiked back out of the mudflats onto the hiking trail. It was pretty quiet except for the all the starlings. I've never taken a picture of a starling as they are way too common. But today I got one of this youngster. Check out the spots...they look like tiny hearts!

This is how blue they sky was today. I did no editing to this pic...

I was heading back to the parking lot when this red tailed hawk flew by....

I never get tired of seeing these beautiful birds!
Thanks for reading.....
