Finally, I had time to go over and see my owl friends Monday evening. I met my friend Georgia who lives in the neighborhood. There was no sign on the owls around the nest, so we decided to walk around the lake to enjoy the beautiful evening. We were about halfway around the lake when we spotted the coyote crossing the pond.
As we watched him, we could see he was probably going to pop onto the path right in front of us. So we stopped to give him space and for me to get some pics.
He took a look at us and continued across the path into the high grasses.....
Check out how his coloring blends in with the grasses...very cool!
We got back to the nest area and found Sonny hanging out........
He flew into the nest and posed for me.......
By this time Cher had shown up too. Owls do not make any sounds when flying. So it is easy for them to show up or leave without us hearing them.....
Cher perched herself in a nearby cottonwood and settled in.......
It was dinner time and I was hungry, so we said good night to the owls and headed home.
It seems like Cher is enjoying her freedom before she settles on to the nest. We think by next week, she will have laid her eggs. Being such a good mom, she sits on those eggs 24/7 with very brief breaks. Stay tuned.......
