It looked like it might rain this morning but I decided to head out to Barr Lake. The weather changes around here so fast, it will make your head spin. So I gambled that the weather would clear up and it did!
As you know from reading my blogs, I do have an obsession with owls. And my newest obsession is the barn owls I recently found. So I headed over to see if I could get some decent pics. My hope was to get one or both peeking out at me from their nesting box. They must have got the message because that is exactly what they did!
I am in love with these guys!!!!
Finally, I pulled myself away to see what else was going on. The bullock's orioles were zipping around.......
and there were lots of western kingbirds too.
I heard some sweet singing and it belonged to this yellow warbler......
Bunny season is in high gear.......so cute!
This cute sparrow posed for me....
The house wren's song is so sweet! I love seeing these guys....
There were lots of eastern kingbirds around. This one posed for me.....
I was almost back to the parking lot when I saw the red tailed hawk dive into a field. I was hoping he'd take his meal up into a tree for me to photograph but seems he chowed down before he took flight....
As I headed home, I stopped over to see if any burrowing owls were about. Damn! Just as I drove up, an owl was sitting on a fencepost very close to the road. By the time I realized he was sitting there, he flew into the field....bummer! I'll dream about missing that shot for awhile. Still so darn cute and fun to see!
I was almost home but just had to stop by to see if the bobolinks were around. I almost gave up when one showed up for a brief moment.
This is what you see when you're at the Cherryvale open space in Boulder. Spectacular!
Thanks for reading!
