My New Dog

As you may have noticed, I haven't done a photo blog since Thanksgiving. I was busy with a few other projects but the most important one was bringing a new dog home! Many of you know I had to say good bye to my beloved Molly dog about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Here she is enjoying a swim on a hot summer day.

Well, I knew I would get another border collie someday and that day was last Thursday! You gotta love the internet and Pet Finder. To use Pet Finder, you just plug in what you are looking for and a few other details. Then all these pics pop up. One day I was looking and this sweet girl's pic popped up. It took me about a week to realize she probably was my dog. So I contacted Summit Dog Rescue( where she was) located right here in Boulder. I filled out an application, did a phone interview, had a home visit and then got to meet Hazel in person. It may seem like I had to jump through quite a few hoops to get this sweet girl but this quite normal with most rescue groups. They do their best to make sure the dog goes to the best home possible.

Pretty darn cute, huh? She's about 1 1/2 yrs old and absolutely the perfect dog! She is good with people, kids, dogs and cats! This is my payback for helping Molly through all her issues. Molly had many fears to overcome which we did and I got quite the education. I now use what I learned from Molly to help other dogs. So Molly made sure to set me up with the perfect dog! I thank Molly every day!

I've only had her about 4 days and she is already able to be off leash. She is very connected to me and makes great eye contact. Plus she loves the tennis ball, so I always bring one along.
When I sold my home and couldn't find a new place to buy, I rented a pet friendly( both dogs and cats) townhome. Right across the street from my home is some amazing open space where everyone walks their dogs. Here is what I see everyday when we go for a walk...the flatirons!

I am so excited to have sweet Hazel in my life!

I know we will have many adventures together, so stay tuned!
