Finally A Bit of Action!

Another beautiful day in Colorado!  So I headed down to my favorite spot to see what was going on......

I got there just as the sun was coming up, so the light was not the best for pics. The cormorants are still around.....

There were quite a few ducks below the cormorant. when I took a closer look, I saw a couple of male wood ducks! They flew off before the light came up but it was fun to see them.

Here's what they sky looked like as the sun came up......

There were quite a few gadwalls gathered. The males were struttin their stuff to impress the ladies :)

The sun was coming up and the water had a nice golden color to it.....

As the sun rose, everything had a nice glow!

I just love the markings/coloring on the gadwalls!

Besides the gadwalls, the hooded mergansers were displaying for the gals.....so fun to watch! I love seeing these guys!

I continued on and spotted a wood duck among the cat tails.....

I also saw one of the cooper's hawk being harassed by a couple of magpies. Couldn't get any pics but was fun to watch.

I was about done when I said hi to a couple of birder gals. We got to talking and they mentioned they saw some ruddy ducks at a pond on Kipling and Florida. Cool! I did drive over and found the pond but no ruddys were around. It was a nice pond, so I will go back to check it out.

I did spot this young red tail snoozing. Check out how his foot is tucked up.......

What a great day it was! Of course I headed home to get Hazel out for swimming. Was 80 ' today, so the water felt good!

Thanks for reading!
