We are supposed to be getting some rain/snow over the next few days, so I figured I better get out for some more photographing! First Hazel and I did our morning hike. Then I dropped her at home and headed over to Walden ponds. Yesterday someone had spotted a brown pelican there. They are quite rare around here, so there was lots of excitement.
Unfortunately he was not around but I did enjoy these white pelicans!
I stopped at 75th street to see if the dipper was around but no luck. So I headed over to see my owl friends. The owl nest is now empty so this flicker was thinking about moving in. Yes, that is a bunny foot hanging out of the nest.....
I crossed the green pipe and got a great view of Cher and a butt shot of Sky....
The second owlet now has a name. It is George! He was still close to the ground and tucked in among these twigs. I spent about an hour enjoying this guy before heading home for lunch.
I headed back this evening to check on everyone. Sonny and Cher were across the path from the kids but were keeping an eye on them.
Again I crossed the green pipe and got some great shots! There were a couple of other photographers who seemed unaware that George was in a great spot for a photo. So they stayed on the path side and only took pics of Sky.
Ha! Was very fun to have some peace and quiet while I hung out with the owlets. I crossed back over to the main path to chat with friends. and a bit later the photographers finally spotted George. They asked me if I knew he was there and I said "of course" Ha!
This is Sky......
And here's George.....
Finally it was time to head home. As I was walking down the path, I saw the momma raccoon walking by the stream but she did not want her photo taken. But one of her youngsters was at the raccoon tree and posed nicely!
What a great day! Thanks for reading!
