Go With The Flow

The plan for the day was to go hiking at Buttonrock. Hazel dog and I had not been there all winter so we were long over due! So we had a quick, light breakfast and headed out. I was all excited to hike that trail but when we got to the turnoff, it was all blocked off as they were doing more repairs on the dirt road. Damn!
Oh well, I quickly shifted to plan B and we drove back to Boulder to go to the Boulder Valley Ranch loop.

We had barely hit the trail when I heard a familiar sound! Yup! It was the yellow breasted chat. I have only seen them a few times but they are common in Colorado.

I heard the yellow warblers, the bullock's orioles and the towhee but no one want their pic taken.
Then I spotted the western kingbird patiently waiting for me to get his pic!

There's a good sized pond about halfway around the loop. Hazel was excited as it's an excellent swimming spot for doggies. We just got to the pond and I looked up to see this osprey looking for breakfast. OMG! I love seeing these guys and watching them fish.

Time stood still as I watched this guy try multiple times to get some fish. He finally gave up and flew off to try else where......

Sweet views of the flatirons.....

The rest of the hike was quiet as I enjoyed the beautiful morning! I had high hopes of seeing some beautiful birds and flowers at Buttonrock. Seems the day worked out perfectly as BVR was rocking today!

Thanks for reading!
