dinner delivery part two

Wednesday evening I stopped by to see the owls. Having gotten many great photos of them sitting, I was now attempting to get a photo of one of them in flight. It was easier said than done. I had been attempting a in flight pic for about one month. Mostly I was getting blurry shots but learning quite a bit at each attempt. And it was pretty fun too. The anticipation of getting a great shot kept me coming back for more.

As usual, the female was in the nest and the male was nearby in his favorite tree. As the light was fading, the male flew off. I decided to stay by the nest in hopes that he would be delivering dinner again. A few minutes later the male reappeared in a tree near the nest. He was making those "happy sounds" again, so I knew he was gonna deliver dinner to his mate. I had my camera all set to take pics of him delivering dinner and flying off afterwards. As he flew toward the nest, I pushed the button of my camera and nothing happened! Many curse words were spoken as I missed everything. Argh! I quickly changed the camera settings and decided maybe I could pics of the female owl eating her dinner. The camera cooperated and I got a few pics of her in the nest. Then she decided to eat elsewhere and flew out of the nest. All the while my camera was firing and I got my first decent pic of an owl in flight! I quickly thanked the owls and raced home to download my photos. Sweet! I was so excited as I looked through the photos I had gotten. Again, I was buzzing as I had again witnessed the circle of life and gotten some great pics!

Enjoy!
