Easter Sunday hike

No easter egg hunt for us, Molly and I preferred a fun hike at Coot lake. So we had a quick breakfast and headed out. I was driving up 75th St and saw a bird walking around in the grasses. I soon realized in was a female pheasant. Not sure if she was wild or escaped
from the farm nearby. Got a few pics and we continued on.

We parked at the west side of Coot lake so we could also walk by the Boulder reservoir. I saw a flock of birds that looked like your every day variety of gulls but soon realized I had not seen these guys before. They had beautiful black heads and red beaks. Hmmmmm guess I'd have to look them up when I got home. They ended up being franklins gulls. Got a few pics then also saw that the avocets were back! Yahoo! They are very cool birds. There were 6 of them enjoying their breakfast :)

We didn't see much else during our hike, so we decided to stop over at Twin Lakes to say hi to the owls and maybe see the wood ducks?

Again no ducks but watched another GBH do some fishing. Also watched a red tail hawk soaring above me...so beautiful!

And finally I stopped by to say hi to the owls. Here's Sonny snoozing away......

Happy Easter everyone!
