Another beautiful evening in Colorado, so just had to pop over to visit my owl friends. I decided to go over a bit early and walk around the lakes before hanging with the owls. I did walk by the owl nest on my way around the lakes. Here was Cher's wing and part of her butt hanging out of the nest. Ha! I had not seen that before, so just had to get a pic.
I was hoping to see the wood ducks from last week but no such luck....rats! I did see a young great blue heron and a very cute killdeer.
I got back to the owl nest and waited for the show to start :) Sonny was sitting up in a tree going through his normal grooming routine. He then flew over to their favorite dead tree and started hooting for Cher. It was barely dusk and out popped Cher. She flew to another tree and went through her own stretching routine. I do not know how she does it. Sitting in that small nest cavity pretty much 24/7. She must get stiff being cramped up all day :)
She hooted back to Sonny for a bit. Then he flew off to get dinner. Cher flew over the path and landed in another tree. She relaxed for a few minutes, then it was back into the nest. We heard a few baby owlet sounds as she returned......
Enjoy!
