A great show

It has been a few fun days, so let me get you all caught up. Saturday, I took a photography class in north Denver. It was so much fun and I learned quite a bit. It was a husband/wife team who have been photographers for over 30 years. They also offer trips all around the world. One of the trips is riding horses into Yellowstone and camping for about 6 days. Then each day you go out photographing. Definitely on my bucket list to do in the next couple of years :)
I was pretty jazzed after class, so went home, fed Molly and the kitties and then headed over to see the owls. Cher was sitting near the nest when I got there. Eventually she flew into the nest and was caring for the kids. When she was done, it was time to clean up the nest. She perched on the nest with a bit of left over rabbit pelt. Eventually flying off to dispose of the "trash".

I went over on on Sunday evening to meet my friends Lisa and Teresa. They'd seen pics and heard all the stories, so they wanted to see "the show" in person. The owls did not disappoint! When we got there, Cher was in a tree behind the nest and Sonny was in a nearby tree. Sonny took off to find dinner and then Cher left too. The babies were calling for food and looking so very cute!

Just as it was getting dark, we heard Cher making her "food noises" from the same tree she had been in earlier. She sat there for a bit, then flew right over our heads. It was then we saw she had a rabbit. Well, she had the bottom half of the rabbit. I'm guessing she ate the top half...yum!

She flew to a few places, processing the rabbit for the "kids". Eventually she landed in the "pantry". The pantry is the fork of a bit cottonwood tree right next to the nest. She did more processing there before flying to another tree.

Finally she flew into the nest and the baby owls got a yummy dinner!

What a fun time! The owls put on a great show for my friends that I'm sure they will never forget!
