Merry Christmas!

I love to go photographing on Christmas day! It is so nice and quiet and the weather is usually pretty good around here. So I was up and ready to go as the sun came up. I decided to stay close to home as a big snow storm is on the way. We're supposed to get up to 10 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. So the plan was to do some photographing and then get Hazel out for a hike before the weather crapped out.

I headed towards Lagerman reservoir which is between Boulder and Longmont. I had seen quite a few reports of bird sightings there, so thought I'd check it out. On the way I spotted this red tail looking for some breakfast......

Then one of his buddies did a fly by and I managed to grab a few pics......

So I get to Lagerman but it was very very quiet! Bummer! So I grabbed a pic of the sunrise....

As I headed out the other end of the rez, I spotted a pair of bald eagles. They were on private land, so I settled for a silhouette shot.....

Next place to check out was Walden Ponds. Again it was pretty quiet........

This chickadee was nice enough to pose for me......

The skies were getting darker by the minute, so I headed back to the car.....

On the way to the car was some open water with some ducks. A closer look revealed there was a pair of pintails. They are beautiful looking ducks!

After enjoying the pintails, I headed home. I was driving down 75th St and a red tail was hanging out on the fence post.

I got home, grabbed Hazel and we did a quick hike near the Silver Lake coffee plant. It was getting pretty windy but we had a fun hike and got home before the snow started......

Hazel, Clarence, Zoe and myself would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks for reading!
