Normally I would go out photographing all morning and then get Hazel out for some play time. But after looking at the weather report I had to change that plan. We enjoyed a lovely week of 60's and 70's temps but today winter was returning. I could see if I went out photographing first, Hazel probably would not get any playtime. So I decided to get her out for a hike and bring my camera just in case I saw something.......
So we headed out to east Boulder to explore these trails some more.....
We headed up the hill and then followed the loop to the south. I quickly spotted a kestrel near a nesting box.
Then another bird got my attention....it is a western scrub jay. He was a bit far away and the clouds were coming in fast but I had to try to get some kind of decent pic.....
Then I went back to the kestrel....
another kestrel flew in to say hi......
Other than those 2 birds it was pretty quiet so we finished the loop and headed home. Well, I started heading home but realized I was near 75th and Jay where the american dipper lives. So I decided to stop by to track him down. Bummer, he was not around but a pair of red tails flew right over me......
I could feel the temperature dropping fast so we headed home. Just in time as it started snowing shortly after we got home!
So we both had a good time! I got to photograph and Hazel got to chase her tennis ball!
Thanks for reading!
