Oh Yeah! I was sure the first owlet had left the nest over night but I was wrong. Here is what happened.....
I went over last evening to see how the owlets were doing. Being Saturday evening, I was sure there would be a crowd of people. Yup! There was but I was ready to deal with it.
Cher was across the path from the nest. She was getting harassed by a few blue jays which she can totally handle. Finally she got annoyed enough to fly to another branch close by.
This owlet was so active!
He/ she was flapping those wings big time!
Finally! I got a decent shot of all three!
Sonny had flown to a tree overlooking the field. So I crossed the green pipe in hopes of a flight shot. But he was just chillin.....
Just as it was getting dark, Cher flew into the nest to check on the kids and then headed out.....
There's a raccoon family in a nearby tree and tonight one of them was out to say hi!
So the way the one owlet was acting, I was positive he/she was gonna be out of the nest this morning. I was there by 6:30am ready to get first morn pics. When I got there Cher was in the nest feeding the kids some fresh rabbit. When she left, I only saw two owlets in the nest. So I looked and looked and looked for the owlet. It never takes me more than 15-20 minutes to find them but today was a different story. I kept checking the nest and only saw 2 owlets. Finally my friend Mary stopped over and together we finally spotted the third one in the nest. He/she was sound asleep in front the other two.
Oh well.....it was a beautiful morning to look for the owlet that was NOT out of the nest :)
I decided to head home and get Hazel out for some swimming time and then take a much needed nap!
Happy Sunday!
