Our weather forecasters have been predicting a potentially big snow storm. It's supposed to start tonight and go through Tuesday evening. So since Hazel and I may be snow bound for a couple of days, we headed out for a combo hike and photography session.
We headed over to the Boulder Valley Ranch loop. I had just turned onto Longhorn road when I spotted this guy.....a cooper's hawk!
I parked the car, grabbed a tennis ball for Hazel and off we went. It was pretty quiet today. No hawks, coyotes or anything else.
There are prairie dogs in many spots around this hiking loop. These guys were just north of the pond and posed nicely for me.
Hazel and I enjoyed our hike. I decided to take the long way home and say hi to my coot lake owl friend. He always hangs out in a clump of trees. As soon as hears me, he usually flies to a big tree. Today he chose this smaller tree.
I just had to wait a few minutes before he took off and gave me some nice flight shots!
What a fun morning! A hike with my dog and got some nice owl flight shots. Now the snow can come anytime now........
