We had a nice big snow storm last Monday and Tuesday. We got around 16 inches of the white fluffy stuff. Luckily for me, I had taken the whole week off from work. So I was able to enjoy being snowed in for a couple of days. After a couple of days, both Hazel and I needed some fresh air and a few good hikes. Of course I brought my camera along just in case.....
Here's a handsome kestrel. He was perched in the tree right by the parking lot of the BVR loop.
And here's Hazel! She is so happy to finally play in the snow!
I usually work Saturday mornings. But since I was off, Hazel and I were up out the door and headed to the BVR loop bright and early.
We started at the east side trail head. We had just got started when I looked up and saw this cloud shaped like a whale! So cool! I love whales and my good friend Pam was just heading out for an amazing whale trip. So it was pretty special!
This beautiful red tailed hawk was perched in the big cottonwood tree.
I heard the prairie dogs making a fuss and sure enough this coyote cruised by. After that, it was pretty quiet as Hazel and I enjoyed our hike. I should take off more Saturdays :)
So now it's Sunday and it's gonna be a busy day! The CU women's basketball team had a game at noon and the Superbowl started at 4:30pm. So I got up early and headed out for a quick photo session. I headed over to see if Cher was on the nest. And there she was! I'm thinking she's been on the nest around a week or so. The eggs will start hatching at around 33 days and then the fun begins!
Sonny was close by in his favorite spot....
After saying hi to the owls, I headed over to 75th and Jay. I looked for the dipper but he was not around. But this kingfisher was....
There were a few pairs of canada geese in the creek. I loved how the light looked.....
It was pretty quiet otherwise, so I headed home to enjoy some basketball and some football!
Thanks for reading!
