OMG! There was Sonny perched in a nearby tree. I was so happy to see him and immediately told him so!
He looked in perfect health and seemed happy to see us too.
So what the heck happened? I did attempt to tune in and ask him but have not got a clear answer. Oh well, I'm so happy he is back!
I headed home very happy but still had some doubts. Was that really Sonny? Would he still be there on Thursday?
So I headed over Thursday evening and there he was sitting in his favorite spot! Whew! All was well!
I again told him how happy I was to see him and he turned his head to look me right in the eye. That was so cool!
As it got dark, he took off to get dinner. We stood watching Cher and she left the nest carrying something in her mouth. We could not tell it what it was. She stayed close by...flying from tree to tree. She landed in a tree near the nest and made these wheezing sounds. Sounded like a cat throwing up a hairball.
Eventually she flew back into the nest with the object in her talons. Hmmmmm!
I've included some pics for you see what I'm talking about.
I plan to contact some bird experts to find out if this is normal great horned owl behavior. So stay tuned :)

Sonny had the trip planned for some time. Was going to Vegas to meet up with his homies to draft next years fantasy football league. No biggie.
