Dad brings home the "bacon"

What a fun evening! I got to the owls around 6:15pm. As I turned the corner, I saw about 20 people on the trail near the owl nest. Holy sh#t! Turns out a local gal had brought a nature group through to see the owls. The baby owls put on quite the show, peeking out of the nest and peering at us.
The big group left and now there were about 4 guys with very large lenses and fancy tripods taking pics of the babies. The parents were nearby watching us closely.
They also left before the sun set...which was fine with us :)

Too bad for them, they missed the best part of the evening. Sonny appeared with a very large animal in his talons. Seems he caught a rabbit and enjoyed eating the head before bringing the rest back to the kids.
He posed for me so I could get some shots. Then he flew into a tree nearby. Then he flew to a nearby house so he could use the roof as his dinner plate :)  Finally he flew into the nest and gave the headless rabbit to the kids. Yum!

  1. I'm so glad you hung in there long enough to get the real "meaty" pics!
