Easter dinner

Another fun day watching the owls! It was very overcast with a good possibility of rain. So Molly dog and I headed over around 9:30am to see the owls. We stopped and said hi. All was pretty quiet, so Molly and I walked over to a trail where she could be off leash. We did the loop then headed back to the owls. My timing was perfect! Both parents were sitting high above baby Horton and one of them had a vole in their mouth. As I stood and watched, one owl flew over and took the vole from the other. Aaaahhh, Cher had Sonny properly trained. He handed off the meadow vole to Cher and then she flew down and gave it to Horton. She held onto it for a minute and then let him have it. She flew off, so Horton was on his own.
He did a great job. First he had the vole in his talons and he nibbled on it. Then he grabbed it and swallowed it whole just like a big boy owl! I don't know but I'm guessing this may be the first time he had done that. His eyes glazed over like a post Thanksgiving feast would do to us. And he was a happy guy!

                                                          Thanks mom!
                                                                  I got it!
                                                            down the hatch!

That was good!

I had plans with my friends to have dinner and then head over to watch the owl show. The rain changed all that. So we stopped over at the owls first. My friends got a good look and then the rain started coming down hard, so we left for some delicious Thai food. It was as yummy as that meadow vole :)
