Happy Reunion with the Owls

Whew! I was having serious withdrawal! I had not gone to see the owls since Thursday evening. I was in a photography workshop all weekend, so this was the first chance I had to see my friends.
The evening started off in spectacular fashion. As I walked by the small lake on the way to the owls, I saw a beautiful bird called an avocet. Got some pics and walked on. I met 3 women and a cute dog( hound mix). He looked familiar, so I asked if he came from Longmont Humane( I volunteer there). He did and the woman absolutely loved him!
Finally got to the owls.....Cher was in a nearby tree and the babies had grown quite a bit. So cute, I got quite a few cute pics. I also noticed there were 2 feet sticking out the nest. Hmmmmm! Oh yeah, I had heard that the local birders thought the feet belonged to a red tail hawk. Bet he made a tasty dinner for all.
Cher flew off to get dinner and was gone for awhile. So I chatted with a nice young guy who was also photographing the owls. My friend Georgia stopped by and we also chatted while waiting for the action to start. It was getting dark, so the young guy left and Georgia had to leave to finish a work project. So I had the owls to myself. About 5-10 minutes after Georgia left, I heard Sonny hooting in the distance. Then I heard Cher making those cat throwing up a hairball sounds. I was losing light fast but managing to get off a few shots. Cher fed the kids and then flew off to get more food.......

Finally I left as I needed my own dinner. What a fun night :)
