They are flying!

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fun evening at the owl nest! I'd had a busy week, so this was the first chance I had to go see what was going on. As I walked down the trail, I took a look in the dead tree where Elmo had been hanging out. Didn't see him, so I went to look for Nike in her usual spots. As I walking down the trail, I looked down and saw the most beautiful owl feather. It had a lot of down on it, so I'm guessing it was from one of the owlets. Yes, I picked it up to add to my small collection of owl feathers. I now have 3.
Nike was not in her usual spot, so I decided to head back find Elmo. As I was walking back down the trail, I heard one of the owlets calling for food. Hmmmmm it looked like Nike but she was a long way from her previous perching spot.

I decided it was Nike and got a bunch of pics of her. Then I happened to look to the left and there was Elmo. They were about 20 feet apart!

Wow! They were finally close together. It only took them 2 weeks. They were both calling for food but we didn't see momma Cher around. So we decided to take a walk around the lake. We had barely got started and we saw a black crown night heron! I got a few shots and then he flew across the pond. We were able to see where he landed and then I got some great shots!

We finally pulled ourselves from the night heron and went back to see the owlets. They were calling very loud for food and then we saw mom sitting nearby with some rabbit...

.

Finally moma Cher gave the bits of rabbit to Nike. She scarfed it down sooo fast! Cher flew off to get more food while Elmo flew over to Nike to see it there were any bits left....

What an amazing evening!
