What a beautiful Monday morning! Sure, my lawn needed to be cut but that
could wait. There was some photographing to be done! So I headed down to my
to my favorite spot to see what was going on.
The cormorants are still around. They should be leaving soon to head south for the winter.
They were very active, so I decided to get some action shots. It takes them a bit to get airborne, so you see them skip across the water...very cool!
I noticed there were no snowy egrets, so I'm guessing they've already headed south.
This is a fun time as some birds are leaving and others are arriving.
This is a male gadwall. I just love how these guys look! They'll be around all winter!
This is a male northern shoveler. They are starting to arrive from up north and will hang
around all winter.
This is the female shoveler. You'll notice the large bill. Kind of looks like shovel.....
Here's a pair of lesser scaup. They are just arrving from up north and will be around
all winter.
Here's a few shots of the beautiful day!
I had done a complete lap and decided to do one more lap. The lawn could wait!
I am so glad I did another lap. As I was walking by one of the small ponds, 3 ducks flew in. Hmmmm... they looked interesting. I got a closer look and it was 2 female and one male wood duck! Wow! I have been seeing the female all summer but not the male, so it was so nice to have him back! I never get tired of seeing the wood ducks......
Finally I pulled myself away and headed home to get the yard work done.....
