My owl friends: Owls and friends

I thought today would be a good day to go check on some of my owl friends. So first I headed over to the Coot lake owls. These guys are much shyer than Sonny and Cher, so I only stop by once in awhile. I checked the nest and mom was not there. So I searched the surrounding trees and found an owlet. Not sure if there are any more but this one was darn cute!

Besides the cute owlet, I found a heart shaped hole in a tree. Very cool!

Next stop was to see Sonny, Cher and Athena. I found Cher perched high in a tree having a nap.

Athena was close by looking very cute too!

And Sonny was over at the edge of the field.......

While I was taking pics of Sonny, a coopers hawk flew in and harassed him a bit. Sonny just ignored him, so he left.

As I was walking back to the car, I saw a big lump on the path. Holy crap! It was a snapping turtle! I've seen them here before but I wasn't expecting to see one today.....

Next I headed over to the Walden pond owls but no one was around...oh well. The owlets are still around but much more mobile, so it will be tough to find them. I'll keep looking ......

Then I stopped over at Saw mill ponds to see the owls there. I just found mom. Have to say I've never seen an owl sit like this.......pretty cute!

And finally, I stopped over at the open space offices to see the bobolinks. They were too far off to get a pic, so I'll just have to stop back. It's only 5 minutes from my house so it's very easy to pop over. I did see some cute sparrows....
