Well, one thing is for sure......Colorado weather is never boring. Last night it started as rain and ended with some nice heavy spring snows. So I woke up to about 5 inches of snow this morning. Hazel and I got some play time in the snow before I had to go to work. The temps rose quickly into the 50's so most of the snow was melted by this afternoon. So it seemed like a good evening to go see my owl friends.
I got over to the nest around 5:30pm. Cher was sitting pretty close to the nest........
Sonny was across the path. He and Cher were calling back and forth. I just love hearing the owls hoot back and forth!
My years of experience watching these owls paid off big time tonight. I have missed many flight shots because they are so damn fast! But tonight I was ready and got some nice shots of Sonny as he took off.
Look at that wing span!
As Sonny landed in this tree, 3 crows started harassing him. Crows love to harass owls, eagles and hawks. Sonny is quite used to it and takes it all in stride.....
The crows left and Sonny could enjoy some peace and quiet.....
The owlets soon woke up. So cute!!!!!
I was hoping to see Sonny or Cher bring some food to the kids but all was quiet. So since I was hungry, I headed home. I did see this rabbit not far from the owls. Rabbit is a favorite food of the owls.......will he be dinner tonight?????
Thanks for reading!
