Hiking with Hazel

Thankfully we got a break with the very hot temps! I woke up to a cloudy and cool day. A perfect day to go hiking with the Hazel dog. We decided to go check out the homestead trail up near the flatirons. A quick 10 minute drive and we were at the trailhead.

The city of Boulder came up with this idea about 8-9 yrs ago. Hazel has her green tag, so we were good to go!

Here's where we were headed!

We had some rain last night, so the depressions in the rocks make great dog water bowls....

The wildflowers are slowly fading at this altitude but still spectacular....

So we are halfway through our hike and we come upon this sign....huh????

For whatever reason, you are supposed to leash your dog for about 30 feet. We decided that was optional, so Hazel stayed on the trail without the need for a leash......only in Boulder!

Hazel makes a great hiking partner! To me, there is nothing more fun than hiking with your dog! Watching her run through the high grasses, jump up on rocks and then zoom up the trail makes me smile! We will do it again very soon!
