Finally, it seems Spring has arrived here in Colorado. Hazel and I had a very fun hike at Coot lake this morning before heading home for breakfast. I did have office work to do but it was such a beautiful day I decided it could it wait. So after breakfast, I headed over to Walden ponds to see what was going on. It did not disappoint!
Heard some beautiful singing and spotted this yellow warbler......
Then this yellow rumped warbler flew in for some breakfast.....
I continued on and heard the familiar song of the bullock's oriole!
I continued towards sawmills ponds and spotted this cutie flitting around. I was not sure who this was, so looked it up when I got home. It's a warbling vireo! Sweet, that is a life bird for me!
I made it over to the osprey nest just in time for one of them to fly over......
I had circled back towards Walden ponds when this red tail flew right over me and landed in a nearby tree. He was getting harassed by a bullock's oriole but the oriole was too fast to get a pic of it......
The hawk flew down and I was hoping to see what he caught. But he struck out and flew off.....
Walden ponds is right near my owl friends, so I stopped over to say hi. I quickly spotted one of the owlets. I'm guessing this is George.....
And Sonny was close by napping....
I spotted momma Cher perched and looking towards the "island". She wasn't in a good place for a pic. So my guess is she was watching her other owlet, Sky but I could not locate her. Probably will need to stop over in the evening when they start their "day" and start calling for food!
Well, that was a fun day! Thanks for reading!
