Most Mondays, you will find Hazel and I at Coot Lake. It's a great way to start the week! I get a nice hike and Hazel gets to go swimming. Sometimes I bring my camera and I'm so glad I did today!
The clouds were beautiful this morning.....
Meadowlarks are quite abundant and have the most beautiful song......
This is a barn swallow.....
And this is a tree swallow....
I was hoping to see and get good pics of this guy! This is a male bullock's oriole. They return to Colorado in May, build their nest, raise their young and head south in August. So it is a short season to enjoy these guys.
I heard them singing last Thursday, so I knew they were around. Usually they sit high up in the trees but this guy posed for me perfectly in a low branch!
This is the view I get to enjoy most everyday!
Hazel and I had just crossed the drainage ditch and were headed back to the trailhead. I looked to my right and spotted this young coyote. The light was a bit harsh for a decent pic but I had to give it a try.
Coyotes are part of the landscape and I for one think they are beautiful creatures!
The coyote went his way and we continued on. A flock of sparrows were flitting around. finally one posed for me. It's a chipping sparrow...
We were almost back to the trailhead and this kestrel was perched so nicely.....
Well that was a great way to start the day and the week!
Thanks for reading!
