Happy Winter Solstice

I wasn't planning to do a blog today but since I got some good pics, I decided I better do one! As many of you know, I recently moved from Boulder to Longmont, so going out photographing had to wait while I got settled in my new home.

Hazel and I still head into north Boulder for our daily hikes. It's only a few minutes more driving time and it's on nice back roads with many opportunities to see wildlife. So today I decided to bring my camera just in case I saw something. We drove through Lagerman reservoir and I spotted a couple of red tailed hawks( youngsters).

Hazel and I did a lap around coot lake but we didn't see much. On the way back to the trailhead, I spotted two immature eagles that have been hanging around the boulder rez this winter. They were too far off for a pic but it was fun to see them.

So on the way home, I decided to do a bit of exploring. We drove back through Lagerman reservoir and now I spotted bald eagle dealing with the wind.

Then we drove on crane hollow road and then made our way over to Golden ponds. It was all quiet but fun to explore. Next I drove on 115th near my house and then headed over to Union reservoir. There are quite a few dirt roads to explore which was fun. I was driving right by the south side of Union rez when I spotted this pair of bald eagles! I thought about driving in, paying the 2$ walk in fee and hike over to the eagles. But I decided it was easier to just crawl under the barbed wire fence and grab a few pics as the eagles were right there.

Well, what a great way to welcome in the winter solstice! And it sure felt good to be out photographing again! Thanks for reading!
