Yahoo! Finally I found the time to head down to my favorite place in Lakewood to see what was going on. I had not been there since new years day, so it was time!
The great blue herons are back and setting up for a new season! Looks like they were just waking up, so I continued around the lake......
This handsome gadwall was happy to pose for me. There were also two green winged teals but they weren't in a good spot for pics....
and here is mrs. gadwall....
I continued on and spotted the GBH. I was hoping he'd catch a fish but no luck.....
There lots of northern shovelers as they like to winter down in this area....
There was only one golden eye on the whole lake.....
Buffleheads are so cute!
I had done one lap when I heard lots of chirping in the trees. Bush tits! So damn cute and very hard to get pics of. These buggers are fast! Took me about 10 minutes before one posed for me!
I started a second lap and got the bufflehead coming in for a landing.....
I headed back to find the green winged teals when this GBH flew right over me!
I found the green winged teals! And now there about 4-5 pairs! Love those reflection shots!!!!
Mrs green winged teal....
Oh! I spotted some redheaded ducks! They were a bit far out but I had to give a go at getting some pics!
There quite a few lesser scaup around. This is a male......
and here is the female lesser scaup.... She looks like she partied a bit much last night :)
I got back to the GBH nest area and there was a bit of action.....
Well, it was a very fun morning! Thanks for reading!
