Hanging in Longmont

I decided to stay close to home as I had a project list a mile long to get done. So Hazel and I headed over to Union Rez. She could go swimming and I could get some pics. It's early season so the rez did not open until 7am. We were a bit early, so I drove past the entrance and headed down the dirt road. Bingo! An osprey was sitting on the telephone pole.......

The osprey took off and when fishing in the rez. I was hoping he'd catch a fish and bring it back to eat but no luck.....

So we headed into the rez and had it all to ourselves!

This robin flew over to get a drink.......

While throwing the tennis ball for Hazel, I saw a large object flying towards me. Pelican!!!!
He flew right by me and gave me some great shots!

After having lots of fun, we drove over the osprey nest at the county fairgrounds. It was still early enough, so the light was not too harsh yet. My hope was to see the osprey go fishing as there are two ponds right by their nest. But I knew that was a long shot.

I parked the car and wondered if I'd see the male as mom was on the nest. I got out of the car and looked up to see him perched on the light pole right by my car...hahaha!

Nice stretch! I hoped that meant he might take flight and go fishing but it was not to be.

Here's what the nest looks like and you can see the camera setup too.....

Well, it was a fun morning! Hazel got to go swimming, I got to go photographing and then I made a dent in my project list!
Thanks for reading!
