I jumped up, fed Molly and the kitties. Then Molly and I headed over to see the owls. I didn't even take time to make coffee....that's dedication :)
I headed down the alley path that is just behind a row of homes. This is where the babies have been since they left the nest, so I figured that was a good place to start. As I got close, I saw the yappy dogs in one home where already outside. While I knew they'd bark at me, they go ballistic at other dogs. So I had Molly lay down and wait while I looked for the owls. I couldn't see the owls anywhere, so Molly and I headed over to the other side of the creek. The trees look beautiful with all the leaves but it makes it difficult to see the owls.
We walked down the path and still I could not see them. So Molly and I did a lap on the trail where she could be off leash. As we headed back down the trail towards the car, I caught of glimpse of an owl off to the left of the trail. aaah, probably it was mom. As I got closer I realized it was the babies..Horton and Penelope sitting side by side! Wow! Yes, they were sitting side by side but more importantly, they were at least 100 feet from where I had seen them last. Hmmm their flying skills must be improving!
I was so excited.....I circled around the owlets until I got a clear shot of them. They then honored me by posing for this very cute pic!
I knew momma Cher had to be around. I looked around and there she was looking very tired from a busy night. She also honored me with some great pics. I wished her a happy mom's day and headed home for some COFFEE!
As I was walking back to the car, the hot air balloons started to rise, so I had to snap a couple of pics. I bet some moms got a balloon ride to celebrate mother's day.
I could hardly wait to get home and download my pics.....please enjoy!
