Whew! It's been pretty busy and we've had lots of rain- a good thing in Colorado. So finally I made time to see my owl friends this morning.
First, Molly dog and I headed over to a place where I have seen a pair of great horned owls. They are much shyer than my owl friends at Twin Lakes, so I only stop over once in awhile to say hi. Well, today I saw their young...2 very cute young owls sitting in a tree. I got some cute pics and then we headed over to see my owl friends at Twin Lakes.
I quickly found Penelope but she was tucked into the foliage. So no photos but I said hi. A few more steps down the trail and Horton was saying hi to me! How cute is he! His energy reminds me of my cat- Clarence. They are both very cute with a mischievous side!
I looked around for either parent but didn't see them. I knew they were around and it was beginning to drizzle, so we started heading back to the car. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something fly about 50 yards or so. It was Horton! I just missed getting a pic of him in flight.....bummer! I decided to see where he landed and there was Sonny sitting nearby. He was a sleepy guy, so I said hi, got some nice pics and then Molly and I headed home. We got back to the car as it started pouring rain! Whew!
I sure had missed seeing my owl friends, so it was a great way to start the day....
