It's Owl Season!

Yup! It's owl season and time to get you all caught up on what's going on.

Horton and Penelope finally headed out to find their own territories around the beginning of November. We sure do miss them but are excited to meet the new owlets who are on the way!

Sonny and Cher took their time deciding on a nesting area. According to the books, owls only use the same nesting area for 2 seasons because it can become mite infested. Since Sonny and Cher had used the tree nest for 2 seasons, we wondered where they would decide to nest.
Lucky for us, the owls do not read the books! After much debate and discussion, they choose the tree nest area, did some remodeling and now Cher is happily nesting with Sonny staying close by. We think the eggs were laid around the end of February, so we expect them to hatch around the end of March. Then the babies stay in the nest for about 6-8 weeks.

Here are a few recent photos.......Enjoy and thanks for reading!
