baby owls in the house!

I headed over the see the owls. I hadn't been there since Sunday so I was excited to visit my owl friends.
The clouds came in and it got a bit windy. Oh well, I could handle a little rain.
Luckily it only rained a little bit and the wind soon died down. It turned into a beautiful spring evening with a full moon to boot!
Sonny was snoozing in his favorite tree and Cher was on the nest as usual. Soon Sonny went through his stretching routine and then flew to his other favorite tree. He started hooting for Cher to come out and play but she didn't budge.
I decided to stay near the nest in hope of getting some pics of Cher leaving the nest. My friends and I stood around for awhile chit chatting. It was now pretty dark except for the full moon. All of a sudden I here a scraping sound. " Cher is leaving the nest"! I got my camera lined up just in time and got a few good shots as she left the nest. We've been timing how long she stays out. The longest time was 16 minutes. Well, tonight she broke the record and stayed out for 30 minutes. When she flew back into the nest, she seemed to be feeding her young? That position sure looked familiar..her butt hanging out of the nest. Hmmmmmm had the eggs hatched? It certainly could be as we figure she laid her eggs around the end of February.
As we stood watching, we all heard it. That familiar sound of a baby owl asking for more food!
Yahoo! The eggs had hatched! We can hardly wait to meet the new owlets!
